Kayaking Great Falls on the Potomac River

Kayak, kayaking, Great Falls National Park, Maryland, Waterfall, Rapids, Potomac River

There is a lot of scenic beauty at Great Falls National Park in Maryland and Virginia but it is always fun to watch and photograph the kayakers as they scout their lines and make their runs through the falls and rapids. Copyright Daniel P. Creighton

Snow Geese Migration 2012 @ Middle Creek WMA

All photos copyright Daniel P. Creighton, 2012

The numbers of snow geese are much lower then many other years at Middle Creek this year but there are still plenty of photo opportunities for the photographer that works the situations as they present themselves.

Tundra swans numbers were pretty steady however.

I am with Marty on number 4. The color transition in the sky is an eye catcher which is followed up with the curving line of geese .

Cool to warm, flight to landing….what a perfect ending!

I’d vote for the 4th photo. That the transparency of the birds’ wings is the same as the tree-tops is striking.

I really like the third one

A very nice series of images illustrating the variation of color and form. I give a big thumbs up for the second sunset image. This would most definitely hang on a wall. The first image would work more for me if the boat was a bit more to the left.

The transition of color from cool to warm tones is pleasing to the eye and the subtile blue line that breaks the horizon produces a separation from sky to water.

Could be the beginning of a Happy Face?

Daniel P. CreightonNovember 22, 2011 - 5:23 pm

Don’t worry I gave him a ton of help with those leaves on multiple days. The look on his face when I said- “Wait, I want to climb on the roof” was priceless! LOL

Dad rakes leaves son takes photo Hmmmmm! Photo works well for an ad image , simple yet graphic. I hope you bagged lol

Sly Fox, Fall Camo

I wonder if fox are more succesful hunters when the colorful fall leaves are on the ground?

KarlaNovember 19, 2011 - 3:04 pm

Those piercing eyes! You caught a good moment here. Seeing this image does bring that home, that the fur color blends in better with Fall leaves on the ground.

Anita BowerNovember 19, 2011 - 7:08 am

Good catch. This image shows how well foxes blend into their surroundings.
